Candidate Statements for the Academic Affairs Division

Autumn ParkerI am honored to be nominated for another term as a Staff Senator. For the past 18 years, I have had the pleasure of representing my colleagues in Academic Affairs and I am looking forward to the next three. During my terms on Senate, I have served on the Scholarship Committee, helping to award much needed scholarship dollars to staff members pursuing their degrees; the Special Events Committee, helping to celebrate and recognize staff through events like the annual Staff Appreciation Picnic, Staff Appreciation Week and the RazorGifts program; the Employee of the Quarter Committee, helping to recognize our amazing co-workers for their hard work; the Awards Committee, helping to recognize part-time employees and teams that put in extra effort every day; the Transit, Parking and Safety Committee, helping to address issues with crosswalk safety and parking situations; on the By-Laws Committee, working to make Staff Senate more efficient, and most recently as Staff Senate Treasurer.

The common thread for all of these committees is representing YOU and making this campus a better place for all of us. I have been on the UofA campus for nearly 27 years as an undergraduate student, graduate student, and a staff member. This gives me a very unique perspective and an understanding of the many facets of campus life. The UofA is my home. I care deeply about this campus and its staff and consider it an honor to serve. I look forward to continuing to be a voice for all staff and to making this a better place to work for everyone. Thank you for your consideration and I look forward to another term.

Ben PollockThis is my third and longest employment at the University, starting nearly 8 years ago in summer 2016 as website manager for the College of Education and Health Professions. In 2002-03 I was a graduate teaching assistant, and in 2014-15 I was an instructor, both in Journalism. I am a Fort Smith native.

My committee work has been the best utilization of my interests and skills — Communications and Legislative. My editing, design and writing abilities are put to use on revising and maintaining staffsenate.uark.edu, and I help on our social media strategy. This winter I played a major role in assembling voter information in the Legislative Committee that then was placed on our website for all staff employees to use. My service in the Staff Senate began a month before the Covid pandemic started, early 2020, and I have more to offer my colleagues across campus.

Dani McCool

I joined the university in June of 2022 and currently am the Clinical Operations Manager at the Eleanor Mann School of Nursing. I have worked in education for the last twelve years in numerous states as a proud Air Force family.

I'm excited to potentially serve on Staff Senate and be a voice for progress while gaining insights into university governance. I would like to be a part of a team that recognizes the importance of staff being heard at all levels of the university. I hope to broaden and expand my service to the Uark community and collaborate with fellow staff members across campus.

Jason Riley

My name is Jason Riley and I am proud 1st generation college graduate from the University of Central Arkansas. I have been working in higher education now roughly 10 years and I currently serve as the Program Manager for the Venture Intern Program within the Office of entrepreneurship and Innovation. I have been with the University of Arkansas since 20218 starting off in the Multicultural Center, via the College Access Team. While in this role I served on a plethora a of Student Affairs committees. In addition to working full time, I also graduated for the second time from the higher education program with my M.Ed. emphasis on higher education administration. I enjoy basketball, singing really loud with one of my favorite artist Adele and traveling.

One of the things that excites me most about possibly serving on Staff Senate is the possibility of becoming a part of something that is so bigger than me. Being able to champion behind others and serve the needs to become one university is something I feel is very important to me. Coming from the division of student affairs, I have had many chances to work across many units and I believe this position places me in place to do the same on the academic side of the university. I am a true champion of the people and I just want to serve, and that is truly the most exciting part about this process for me!

Lee ShoultzThank you for considering my nomination to Staff Senate. I am currently serving on campus as the Assistant Director of Data Science Undergraduate Programs. I am a two-time graduate of the University of Arkansas and hold a Masters of Public Administration with a certificate in public, private and non-profit collaborations, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. I enjoy being an active alum and continue to participate in alumni events and opportunities as often as I can. I also am member of the University of Arkansas Women’s Giving Circle and sit on the membership committee. In my free time I enjoy reading, attending Razorback sporting events, crafting, and spending time with my friends and family.

I am passionate about the University of Arkansas, its land-grant mission, and the symbol it represents in our state. Therefore, I would be honored to have the opportunity to be a member of Staff Senate so that I can help continue to advocate for staff across campus, celebrate & recognize the hard work of our peers, and give back to our wonderful campus community.
