Chancellor's Office
Staff Senate Members in the Chancellor Division
Roy Cordell
I currently serve as Senior Director for Operations & Brand Management in University Relations. I'm a 30+ year employee and my hometown is Duncan, Oklahoma.
Participating in Staff Senate offers a unique opportunity to go beyond the confines of my job and directly impact the success of the University of Arkansas. It serves as a platform where ideas can translate into actions that shape the university's future. These actions not only benefit the students, faculty, and staff but also contribute to the overall success of the university.
Established in 1976 alongside Faculty Senate and Campus Council, Staff Senate serves as a vital forum for discussing staff concerns and acts as the official link between administration, faculty, and students. It collaborates with these groups to fulfill the university's promise outlined in the Morrill Land-Grant College Act of 1862 and the Arkansas constitution of 1868.
Since the university's inception on the McIlroy Homestead, staff members have played a crucial role in supporting its mission. From Hugh Carl Christian Botefuhr, a Union cavalry major turned farm manager and the university's first known staff member, to the present day, staff have become integral to every aspect of campus life, ensuring its seamless operation in areas such as financial support, human resources, public safety, and research.
Through our partnership with administration, faculty, and students, we work tirelessly to improve the working lives of all staff members. It is a privilege to be part of this important work that enhances the university community for everyone involved.
