Candidate Statements for the Finance and Administration Division
Growing up in Fort Smith, Arkansas, I have a strong connection to the Natural State.
As a proud University of Arkansas alum, it’s been an honor to build my career here
and serve the campus community. My current role in Environmental Health and Safety
allows me to support campus safety by managing the enterprise compliance platform,
overseeing the student lab coat safety program for Fulbright College, completing federal
and state reports, financial analysis, budgeting, procurement, program and maintaining
EHS documents, training materials, records, and the department website, as well as
assist with Hazardous Waste and Fire and Life Safety programs.
I have been a member of the Staff Senate for three years and am passionate about advocating
for my fellow staff members and enhancing the workplace experience at the U of A.
This year, I am serving on the executive board and as the Legislative Chair.
My husband and I both work for the university, and together, we enjoy spending time outdoors, traveling, and hiking with our two dogs. We also share our home with our energetic cat. When I’m not working or exploring the outdoors, you’ll likely find me reading or staying active in the community, always looking for ways to help others.
I'm thankful for the opportunity to work on campus and be a part of the Staff Senate. This career has given me the chance to contribute in a small way to making the University of Arkansas an even better place for staff, faculty, and students.
Being re-elected to Staff Senate is exciting because it offers another opportunity to advocate for staff members, contribute to meaningful initiatives, and help improve the campus community. It’s a chance to continue fostering a positive work environment, support staff development, and collaborate with colleagues to address important issues. I’m especially passionate about making a difference through service, and I look forward to furthering efforts that enhance the staff experience at the University of Arkansas. Plus, continuing this journey allows me to stay engaged with the amazing people who make this university such a great place to work!
My name is Jen, and I moved to Northwest Arkansas in 2016 from Houston, Texas. I joined
the University of Arkansas in 2022, bringing a strong background in Human Resources
and Compensation. In 2023, I transitioned into my current role as a Business Service
Partner for User Solutions, where I leverage my HR expertise to provide insight on
optimization projects.
I am excited for the opportunity to serve on Staff Senate because I enjoy collaborating with colleagues across departments and working together to positively impact the employee experience at the university. In my current role, I actively partner with others to find solutions—whether it’s assisting a user with accessing their training in Workday or contributing to a large-scale business process optimization project that enhances efficiency and improves the overall employee experience.

I came to Fayetteville in 2009 as a grad student, joining staff in 2011. My first position was as a part-time Administrative Specialist for COEHP. I later moved into a full time position, taking on Director roles in COEHP and Honors before transitioning to UITS, where I remain today. As my position has changed over the years, my commitment to our community has only grown.
I believe actions speak louder than words, so here are some of the actions I have taken as a staff senator.
- Advocating for and supporting Staff Senate's transition to digital elections
- Establishing a seat for Staff Senate on the University's Sustainability Council
- Advocating for and supporting the launch of the Staff Senate website's Staff Development Resources page
I have also served multiple terms on our Campus Council, including as Vice Chair from Fall 2023 to Spring 2024, and as the current Chair.
I remain passionate about helping our community. In recent years, some resources that members of our community relied upon have been removed or dismantled. Some of those resources have been replaced, but not all. Late last year, we learned that the next program at risk is our institution's Catastrophic Leave program.
In the short time since, I've worked with others to establish an ad-hoc committee under Campus Council focused on that decision. Why has Catastrophic Leave been singled out, and what can be done to preserve it? If re-elected, my first priority will be to continue that work.
